Nissan Leaf Sales Begin Nationwide

Nissan Leaf, the all electric car from the Japanese auto maker, is hitting dealership lots nationwide. Rated at almost 100 miles on a single charge, the Leaf EV is a big sell in New York and California. But some of the other markets Leaf is making its mark will surprise you.

Tennessee has seen its first sale of a Nissan Leaf EV. Nissan executives say delivery of the first electric Leaf in Tennessee is set Dec. 21 at a dealership in Nashville.

The vehicle is also showing up at dealers in Arizona. The first all-electric Nissan Leaf rolled off the lot and onto the streets of Phoenix this week, paving the way for hundreds more in the next year.

The first sale went to a husband and wife, who will use the car to commute together, sharing with four children, three of which are old enough to drive.

It was the third delivery of the car globally, after initial deliveries in San Francisco and San Diego.

Nissan officials have said they plan to increase Leaf production over the next few years, in hopes to earn a profit from the car. Nissan is letting consumer tastes try and support an electric vehicle for everyday driving.
