Introduced on Wednesday at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show was the all new Nissan Ellure Concept, kept under wraps by the Japanese auto maker, until now.
What is Ellure? It's a "sedan re-imagined," according to Nissan's chief creative officer, Shiro Nakamura. This year's LA Auto show witnessed an unveiling of more sedans than anything else. And of course, many of those contained hybrid powertrains, whether they be gas-electric or other.
The front-drive Ellure concept from Nissan contains a supercharged 2.5-liter 4-cylinder and a 25 kW electric motor, described as "a next-generation hybrid powertrain." By "next-gen" Nissan probably means the powertrain is still under construction.
"Don't hold your breath for this as a future production model," according to The New York Times automotive blog. For now, the vehicle is a research projects, set up to remind us that Nissan wants to "stay active in the sedan segment."
Mr. Nakamura made many references to the car's looks by saying "it changes its mood" and "emotion" - is this concept car a living being? We'll have to wait and find out.
For now you can test drive one of the many new vehicles from Nissan at Lokey Nissan on 27758 U.S. Hwy 19 North, Clearwater, FL 33761.
