Nissan Townpod Concept Revealed

Nissan revealed its newest concept car, the Townpod at the 2010 Paris Motor Show.
The Townpod is billed as a zero emissions car and looks similar to a MINI Clubman. The exterior is very rounded and, you guessed it, "pod like." The exterior is simple, but revolutionary. There are 6 doors (two of which open in the back), the front headlights change shape to serve as daytime runners when the sun is up and the blinkers consist of four different lights.
The Townpod used the same powertrain as Nissan's LEAF EV. In keeping with hybrid and zero emissions cars having "relaxed" colors, the Townpod is painted a "Stratosphere White" and is accented with electric blue.
The interior of the Townpod uses a somewhat futuristic steering wheel with several controls integrated in. With two touch screens and a small joystick gear selector, the dashboard and console have almost no push buttons anywhere, according to World Car Fans.
The back seat consists of a slim rear bench which can fit passengers or can fold up for more storage space. Another unique feature is, "The Puck," which is a carved rubber ball that handles drink holders, purses, bags and phones.
Nissan Product Chief Masato Inoue explained the Townpod's versatility. "Owners can easily customize the interior of Nissan Townpod to suit their particular needs. The system is completely open source - we encourage individuals or other organizations to come up with accessories to complement this platform."
